This bronze follis was issued under Crispus, the eldest son of Constantine the Great. As Caesar, Crispus proved to be a capable military leader, achieving victories against the Franks and Alemanni. His coinage reflects the promise of stability and continuity within the Constantinian dynasty, before his tragic downfall at the imperial court. Obverse (Avers): Armored bust of young Crispus with pearl diadem facing right. Legend: CRISPVS NOB CAES ("Crispus, noble Caesar"). Reverse (Revers): Wreath enclosing VOT X (vows for ten years of rule), surrounded by legend CAESARVM NOSTRORVM ("Of our Caesars"). Mintmark SMKΔ (Kyzikos mint). Condition: Very Fine (VF). Clear portrait and inscriptions with minimal circulation wear. Historical Note: Despite his popularity and military successes, Crispus was executed in 326 under mysterious circumstances by order of his father Constantine the Great, ending the promising career of the Caesar.
