Obv.: IMP CONSTANTINVS AVG – Laureate head of the emperor to the right. Rev.: BEATA TRANQVILLITAS – Altar with globe, three stars above, and the inscription VOTIS XX; in exergue. RIC VII [Trier] 308 ff. This coin was struck during the reign of Emperor Constantine I the Great (306–337 AD), one of the most significant rulers of Late Antiquity. He is known for founding Constantinople (later Byzantium) as the new capital of the empire, for promoting Christianity within the Roman Empire, and for his victories in decisive battles such as the Battle of the Milvian Bridge (312 AD). The reverse legend “BEATA TRANQVILLITAS” (Blessed Tranquility) symbolizes the peace and stability under his rule.
