Historical Context Constantius I Chlorus was one of the four rulers of the Tetrarchy established by Diocletian and governed the western provinces as Caesar. He was an effective military commander and capable administrator, particularly in Gaul and Britain. His lasting historical importance lies in being the father of Constantine the Great, who would later transform the Roman Empire.
