This Roman silver denarius was issued in honor of Faustina the Elder, wife of Emperor Antoninus Pius, after her death. She was deified by the Senate (Diva), and her coinage served as imperial propaganda to emphasize her divine status and reinforce the legitimacy of the Antonine dynasty. Obverse (Avers): Bust of Faustina Senior with elaborately arranged hair, facing right. Inscription: DIVA FAVSTINA Reverse (Revers): Standing female deity (likely Aeternitas) holding a scepter and raising her hand.
