This Antoninianus from the reign of Emperor Gallienus (AD 253–268) is struck in silver. Obverse: Radiate bust of Gallienus facing right. Reverse: Trophy with weapons and two captured barbarians on either side; legend “GERMANICVS MAX V.” Gallienus ruled jointly with his father Valerian and later as sole emperor. He conducted successful campaigns against Germanic tribes but also faced numerous internal crises and usurpations during his reign.
