Historical Context: Gallienus ruled from AD 253 to 268 during one of the most turbulent periods of the Roman Empire, marked by usurpations, frontier wars, and economic instability. Nevertheless, he implemented important reforms in the military and coinage. The Antioch-minted antoniniani are notable for their clear portraits and reverse designs that often depict peace, harmony, or military victory.
