Legend partly worn. Silver. Minted in Rome. Historical Context: Marcus Aurelius (AD 161–180), known as the “Philosopher Emperor,” is remembered for his Stoic work Meditations. His reign was marked by wars against the Parthians and Germanic tribes, as well as domestic reforms.
