This AE3 bronze coin features the young Constantinus II with a laureate head right, legend CONSTANTINVS IVN NOB C. The reverse shows a laurel wreath enclosing VOT V, surrounded by the inscription CAESARVM NOSTRORVM. It was issued to commemorate the young Caesar’s fifth anniversary of reign (Vota Quinquennalia). History: Constantinus II (317–340 AD) was the eldest son of Constantine the Great and was appointed Caesar as a child. After his father’s death, he ruled jointly with his brothers Constans and Constantius II. In 340 AD, a conflict over territory led to a battle against Constans, during which Constantinus II was killed.
