Obv.: Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of a young emperor right (legend indistinct). Rev.: ΥΠ ΠΟΝΤΙΑΝΟΥ ΜΑΡΚΙΑΝΟΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ – Artemis advancing right, holding bow and drawing arrow from quiver; hound running right at her feet; E in left field. Ref.: cf. Varbanov (Eng.) 1159 var.; AMNG I/1 912 (type). A provincial issue from Marcianopolis under governor Pontianus, likely struck for Gordian III.
