Reverse: Personification of Pax standing, usually facing left, holding symbols of peace such as an olive branch and a caduceus or sceptre (depending on the variety). Legend: PAX Field: SC (Senatus Consulto – issued by decree of the Senate) This reverse type celebrates the restoration of peace and stability after the civil wars of AD 69. A classic and historically meaningful bronze issue of the early Flavian period. Historical Context Vespasian emerged victorious from the Year of the Four Emperors and founded the Flavian dynasty.
